The first step into becoming a fully qualified professional Muay Thai judge

I recently undertook the first initial assessment at Shin Kick Muay Thai gym in Woking into becoming a fully qualified Muay Thai judge. The seminar was based around the theory of Muay Thai scoring and how to understand the scoring criteria which was led by Muay Thai expert Dr Tony Myers. This was then followed a 2 hour assessment where I had to judge 10 recorded fights of varying classes and abilities. I needed to get at least 80% correct to pass the assessment and thankfully I scored a mark of 9/10 (90%).

The next step will be to shadow judge at up and coming Muay Thai shows and to undertake a full practical assessment by a head judge of the Independent Board of Muay Thai Officials. I hope to have shadowed my first show in the summer but will keep you updated on my blog.
